Paediatric First Aid (PFA) Training

Our 2 day course is designed for those with a responsibility for the care of children and babies on a professional level. The purpose of the qualification is for the learner to attain the knowledge and practical competence required to deal with a range of paediatric first aid situations.

• OFSTED (EYFS) Compliant
• Certificate valid for 3 years
• Taught by experienced trainers

The purpose of the qualification is for the learner to attain the knowledge and practical competence required to deal with a range of Paediatric First Aid situations. 

Syllabus

A range of subjects are covered including:-

• Role of the Paediatric First Aider
• Primary survey
• Resuscitation (CPR including the safe use of an AED) 
• Wounds, bleeding and shock
• Allergic reactions including anaphylaxis
• Head, neck and back injuries
• Seizure
• Choking
• Minor injuries
• Recovery position 
• Fractures
• Foreign bodies
• Diabetic emergencies 
• Asthma
• Meningitis
• Febrile convulsions
• Extreme cold and heat 
• Electrical incidents

Assessment

Continual assessment is used, combined with a number of observed practical activities and a short theoretical assessment, supported by our experienced trainers.

12 learners per trainer (multiple trainers available)

Duration

12 hrs (usually over 2 days)

Ofsted and the Early Years Foundation Stage

This two-day qualification fulfils the requirements for first aid training detailed in the Department for Education’s statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage.
